I spotted Kimmy lying on a grass verge behind a local Chinese restaurant one Saturday evening in July when I went for a meal with friends. At first I thought she was dead but she raised her head as we went past. 2 ½ hours later she was still there despite torrential rain. She was obviously ill and with the help of a friend who runs a small local cat rescue we got her into a carrier and took her to the vets on the Monday for tests.
Kimmy turned out to be fine, just very old and in need of dental treatment and grooming. This she received and she soon settled in at the rescue where she won the hearts of all she met. She was no trouble at all but in view of her age she was unlikely to be homed and Brian and Chris decided to let her stay.
Sadly, at the end of September 2004, Kimmy's age got the better of her and she passed away. At least we had the satisfaction of knowing that we had allowed her to spend her last few months in peace and comfort and with the best veterinary care, love and food possible.
